Mivonto-baba (AKA Puff Daddy),
100% Ambilobe, "high blue" -

A little bit about our beautiful oddball, Mivonto-baba (AKA Puff Daddy). First of all, those of you who have been following us for some time already know how we feel about the odd ones. We are definitely drawn to the weirdly unique, and anything that expresses a different look than what would usually be considered “the norm”. Mivonto-baba is all of that, and more! To me, he’s almost like a reverse red body blue bar. It’s like, instead of having the red pigment fill out his body over time, with age, his blue bars expanded,  almost taking over his entire body. Adult Mivonto-baba is nearly solid blue with the exception of a small amount of red in his face, gular, belly, limbs, and tail. This is why we call him a "high blue" Ambilobe.  And while Mivonto-baba (AKA Puff Daddy) turned out to exceed our weirdest expectations on the oddball scale, he did not start out that way at all! As a youngster, he was not blue, and had much more of a typical Ambilobe look. In fact, we were drawn to him for completely different reasons, mostly his early development of yellow pigment, and his velvety soft appearance. For this reason, I wanted to share a little timeline of his development so that you guys can see what I’m talking about. The photos in the sequence below are starting from most current, allllll the way back to Mr. Baba as a 3 month old baby. In a lifetime growing up around panther chameleons, individuals such as Mivonto-baba are a perfect example of why I could never possibly lose interest in these fantastic creatures! I hope that his strange journey is as interesting to you as it has been for us.  As always, thanks for reading!
